Understanding and implementation of automatic-fire-alarm-system's output communication protocol can impact on two sides' communication compatibility. This paper introduces the protocol's environment and functional requirements, analyzes it using formal analysis method, gives its Petri net model, states the requirements implied in the protocol and affecting compatibility. It makes some suggestions on using the protocol for networked applications.
