Objective: To address how to use computer-digital patterns with the Characteristics of ethnic minorities is a challenging problem. Method: Taking digital design of Xinjiang Folk textile patterns as an example, a solution is proposed in the paper of research on the computer-aided design technology of textile patterns. First, by segmentation patterns, textile pattern element symbols database were picked up and created. Then, using the technology of path decoration implemented folk art patterns design based on PhotoShop, working with Layers, paint preset, selection techniques and combination of lots of schemas. Experimental results: The designing process validation was carried through with typical Uygur carpet or cap. Conclusion: The proposed method is closely keeping the national style of design. It has the nice generalization ability and a promising future in the digital design fields and it is simple and easy in operation and can be widely popularized. So it can lay the foundation for genetic pattern to establish folk design foundation database.
